How to Pray for a Miracle
Luke 18:35 - 43
Be Passionate v. 38You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13
The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months.
James 5:16-17 NKJVBe Persistent v. 39
He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all-how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Romans 8:32
If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! Matthew 7:11
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. Matthew 7:7
Be Precise v. 41You do not have, because you do not ask God. James 4:2
Be Positive v. 42Expect God to answer!
Be Praiseful v. 43For my family here is a miracle I need
In my own life here is a miracle I need
In our church here is a miracle I needThis sermon outline is from Rev. Dennis Lacey, Dunwoody, Georgia
May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it. 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24
Holiness begins with GodHis perfection in truth, righteousness and justice
Be holy because I, the LORD your God, am holy. Leviticus 19:2
Our holiness has often been defined as ceremonial cleansing
or conformity to a list of behaviors.Sanctification is separation from sin that leads to moral purity.
May God himself, the God who makes everything holy and whole, make you holy and whole I Thessalonians 5:23 The Message
· God will make us whole
We will not be holy without wholeness· God will make us holy
We will not be whole without holiness
Our behavior matters
Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed. As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: "Be holy, because I am holy. “ 1 Peter 1:13-16Where do you need God to make you whole?
Which behaviors need to be changed?
In the past you were spiritually dead because of your disobedience and sins. At that time you followed the world's evil way; you obeyed the ruler of the spiritual powers in space, the spirit who now controls the people who disobey God. Actually all of us were like them and lived according to our natural desires, doing whatever suited the wishes of our own bodies and minds. In our natural condition we, like everyone else, were destined to suffer God's anger. But God's mercy is so abundant, and his love for us is so great, that while we were spiritually dead in our disobedience he brought us to life with Christ. It is by God's grace that you have been saved.
In our union with Christ Jesus he raised us up with him to rule with him in the heavenly world. He did this to demonstrate for all time to come the extraordinary greatness of his grace in the love he showed us in Christ Jesus. For it is by God's grace that you have been saved through faith. It is not the result of your own efforts, but God's gift, so that no one can boast about it. God has made us what we are, and in our union with Christ Jesus he has created us for a life of good deeds, which he has already prepared for us to do.
Ephesians 2:1-10 Today’s English Version
1. Are you spiritually dead or alive?
2. Will you follow the world’s ways or God’s plan?
See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ.
Colossians 2:8
3. Are you controlled by evil spiritual forces or the Spirit of God?
4. Are you fulfilling your own desires or doing what God created you to do?So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law.
The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires.
Galatians 5:16-245. Are you depending on the good things you have done or God’s grace?
6. Will you suffer in hell or rule in heaven?
